Day 1. Arrival in HO CHI MINH CITY (D)
Upon arrival at the airport in Ho Chi Minh city, our guide will welcome and take you to your hotel in Saigon downtown. Over the past few centuries, Saigon was called the “Pearl of the Far East”. Free at your leisure and enjoy welcome dinner at the local restaurant. Overnight at hotel in Saigon
Day 2. HCM – CU CHI TUNNELS – HCM (B, L)
A morning drive will take you to visit the famous Cu Chi tunnels, a byzantine maze of underground passages, chambers, rooms and booby traps used by both the Viet minh and the Viet Cong to suddenly materialize as if from nowhere, launch a lightning ambush, you will watch a short introductory video on the tunnels construction and explore the maze of tunnels.
Back to Ho Chi Minh for lunch and then our guide will show you around Ho Chi Minh City. Visit the the former Presidential Palace of Ho Chi Minh City, stroll by some of the major sights of colonial Ho Chi Minh City: Notre Dame Cathedral, Old Saigon Post Office. The huge Ben Thanh market, one of the liveliest areas of Ho Chi Minh City, is packed with every conceivable commodity.
Day 3. SAIGON – MEKONG DELTA (B, L)
Option 1: MY THO, BEN TRE
Morning, a two hour drive to My Tho will expose the colorful outskirt life as well as picturesque rice fields along the journey. Upon arrival, get on a boat trip up Mekong River with islet stop at Thoi Son to visit a coconut candy workshop, witness the authentic life of the local and taste seasonal fruits, enjoy traditional folk songs. An adventurous sampan ride in palm shading creeks will be the next experience of the riverside region. Lunch to be served with the Mekong Delta specialty – Deep fried elephant ear fish. Return to Ho Chi Minh City in the afternoon, free at your own leisure.
Option 2: Cai Be floating market
Leave Saigon and go ahead to Vinh Long. On arrival, get on a local boat to visit Cai Be floating market – one of the most colorful and typical markets in Mekong region. Visit nearby handicraft villages. Learn the process of making rice cakes, pop rice cakes and pay a visit to coconut candy workshop to enjoy the little brown sweets served with tea.
The rowing boat will take you deeper into the countryside on smaller canals and to enjoy the peaceful time. It is so interesting to see traditional houses made of wood and palm tree leaves and see some activities of the local farmers with an opportunity to make contacts with them and see how they catch fish or pick up fruits by ancestral ways in Mekong Delta.. Have lunch at the local house, experience the friendliness and hospitality of the host. Afternoon, you can ride a bicycle on village paths to see the local farms, houses, real life and the ancestral ways to pick up fruits in Mekong Delta. Bid the farewell to the host, and drive back to Ho Chi Minh City.
Day 4. HCM– Departure (B)
Breakfast. Free at leisure until transferring to the airport for departure flight. End of services.
