Tour Itinerary

Day 1. Saigon – My Tho – Can Tho (L)

Depart from your hotel in Saigon to My Tho where will expose the colorful outskirt life, picturesque rice fields along the journey. Upon arrival, take a boat trip on Mekong River with islet stop at Thoi Son to taste seasonal fruits, enjoy traditional folk songs. Continue we hop on bikes and start a leisure ride through village path and orchards. We reach a nice riverside restaurant and enjoy your lunch with typical cuisine of the Mekong delta. You may try your hand at preparing a local dish “Dried banana flower”.

The afternoon is dedicated to waterways exploration. On a sampan along narrow canals first, and then back on the boat to cruise to the pier. We loop-the-loop in Ben Tre and then get back on the car to drive to Can Tho. Spend the evening at leisure seeing the town by foot or pedicab, or find a quiet place for a cocktail by the river.

Day 2. Can Tho – Chau Doc (B, L)

After an early breakfast, we start a boat cruise to head to the bustling Cai Rang floating market – the largest and most colourful in the Mekong delta. Time for taking part to the local activities and taking pictures. There are fantastic photo opportunities amidst the huge variety of agricultural bounty on sale here. Then spend some time in the surroundings to visit a local fish market, a noodle workshop and an ancient Khmer pagoda before returning to Can Tho for lunch.

After lunch, drive to Chau Doc – a town on the border of Vietnam and Cambodia to visit Tra Su cajeput forest, a Cajuput forest which is also a home of about 100 species of birds. A round trip in motor-boat cruise will take you to all significant sites of this ecological forest to discover its greenery and bird sanctuary before getting to your hotel in Chau Doc for an overnight stay.

Day 3. Chau Doc – Sa Dec – Saigon or Cambodia (B, L)

Early departure after breakfast, you’ll take another trip on the long tail boat to visit a floating fish farm and learn about the centuries-old skills at work. We also pause in a Cham village with their intriguing mosque. We then drive to Sa Dec and get there for lunch at restaurant.

Depending on the time and on your preferences, we may then visit bonsai gardens, a Cao Dai temple, an ancient pagoda and/or the ancient house of Huynh Thuy Le made famous by the novel The Lover.

Hop on the car again for the last stretch to Saigon. Expected back in Saigon around 5-6pm.

You might want to extend your trip to Cambodia from Chau Doc by speed boat. Early morning transfer to the pier to embark on a speed boat for an exciting ride to Phnom Penh (5 hours). This is a perfect starting point for discovering Cambodia and the famed temples of Angkor.
